Last Saturday’s annual Harvest Festival at Added Value was rained out, but you can come down this Saturday, the 31st, for some on-the-farm fun geared towards the little guys and their grown-up travel companions. They’ll get out the costume bins, there are pumpkins to pick- a good start for a Halloween morning, to be sure. Give AV a call for details- 718-855-5531- or come on down to Red Hook Saturday morning.

Not England. Actually, it’s an article in a NYTimes blog about Added Value’s new partnership on Governor’s Island. The author, the creatively named Jennifer 8. Lee, seems oddly transfixed by the idea of seeing the Statue of Liberty. Maybe it’s just spending so much time in Red Hook, but that hardly seems like the big draw to this new, apparently larger endeavor from Ian and the rest of the AV folks. Mr. Marvy hits it right on the head:
“It’s a triple bottom line,” he said. “Economic, social and environmental.”
Here’s hoping they end up happy with the results in all three arenas, and looking forward to July when the harvest starts rolling in.
